I have used Norton since 1999. I use this Anti-virus software and have found it to be real effective.
Still trying to deal with. The customer service for norton is horrible. They give you a run around and its hard to get a hold of them for technical assistance.
Norton responded by updating my NAV2009 to NAV2010 for FREE. If a virus should get through I know that a restore from back up is available. In June 2009 the NAV IPS function stopped working ( a minor component) due to a FireFox upgrade.
I like this product a lot and have renewed my subscription for another year. The first rule of computing is "Thou shall make back ups". I also own Norton Ghost and back up frequently.
I purchased NAV 2009 from Amazon in March 2009 and was very happy with the price, shipping and product functionality. I do not detect any slow down of my system. I am a loyal customer to Norton products because they work for me.
It took a month for Norton to fix this partly because FireFox kept updating their versions during the same period. I am using XP SP3 and have not had any viruses, or any other incidents since installing NAV2009 and the upgrade to NAV2010.
It is much more friendly than the Defender Pro which I just removed/uninstalled. The Norton 2010 Anti-virus one user/one pc was a breeze to install and seems to work great. Time will tell if the Norton product lives up to it reported reputation. The Defender Pro would lock up my computer by requesting that I download an updated version and sending numerous (over a hundred) windows that had to be deleted before my computer would allow me to do anything else. It downloads updates when you install it if you allow it. It does not seem to slow down the computer very much at all.
I will pass on the re-installThe machine has worked fine since de-installing so lets not blame Bill Gates.back to e-accelaration for me. Took Windows 15 hours to reboot to a safe environment and finally got a message saying that Norton was corrupted on install - Remove and re-install. I did the first part. I am not sure why I decided to give Norton another chance. More expensive but works My quad processor seemed to have to use 3 processors for Norton and one for everything else. It was cheap on Amazon and I fell for it. After a week of errors and 'seems to have a problem' messages from Windows Vista and Explorer, my machine would not boot Windows at all.
